32 Unknown, Unknown newspaper (1912). 'AN EXAMPLE OF LONG SERVICE. - The death of Mr Frederick Burton, of 22 Colebrook Street, has brought to light a record of long and faithful service. Aged 53 years, Mr Burton has been for 36 years in the continuous service of a succession of firms or amalgamations of firms. Practically as a youth he entered the employ of Messrs. Dear and Bailey, of St James' Brewery, and has since worked continuously for that firm, for Mr Wootten, and finally for the Lion Brewery Co., Ltd. He was a drayman by occupation, and covered a radius of twenty miles around Winchester on his journies, so that he is a well-known figure on the road. He was at work on Thursday of last week, but was taken with a seizure on Saturday, and after lying in an unconscious condition until Sunday morning, he passed peacefully away. He leaves a widow, one son and three daughters. Deceased was also an old member of the Arthur Lodge of Oddfellows, and his son has just passed the chairs of the senior City Lodge. The funeral took place on Thursday, when the first portion of the service was held at St Maurice Church, and the Rev W.E. Colchester officiated. Mr Webb Manley, secretary of the Lion Brewey Co., and Messrs Ware, Hyles, Kibble, Coombes, and Harrington, fellow employees, were present. Mr G Coster was regrettably absent owing to indisposition. The funeral arrangements were carried out by Messrs. Stroud and Sons.'
